What is 19” ?
Measurement of width – 19” = 483mm (Overall width of panels at front of equipment ie Amps/DVD’s etc with rack mounting holes)
What is width between racking uprights ?
451mm
Why use Racks ?
Systems can be built and slotted into position – Total access, unlike building into fixed furniture. Also expansion and modification is easily achievable.
It also allows easy management of the installation including ventilation of components and cable management. The biggest reason for failure of electrical components within an installation is heat. A rack with fans allows the dissipation of this.
What is an Installation Base for ?
When a rack is mounted above skirting level or in a cupboard, the installation base gives a platform for rack to be rolled or lifted onto for ease of use. Height of base is adjustable to suit height above floor.
Which shelf to use ?
Base Shelf – Drops in between front & rear frame to give support for items mounted immediately at bottom of rack.
Fixed Shelf – To support non front mounted (19”) equipment. Bolts front and rear of rack.
Vented Fixed Shelf – As fixed shelf but for use when heat build up inside rack is a consideration.
